Conservative MP Elsie Wayne is facing a human rights complaint

Thursday, July 24, 2003

Saint John, New Brunswick

Conservative MP Elsie Wayne has taken a clear stand in the House of Commons against the same sex "marriage" proposal and the Hate Crimes Bill C-250. Now she is facing a human-rights complaint after homosexual constituents in her Saint John, N.B., riding publicly alleged she is discriminating against them by failing to represent them in Ottawa.

The constituents filed a complaint with the Canadian Human Rights Commission yesterday alleging they are being denied political representation. They contend that Ms. Wayne steadfastly refuses to meet with them. Ms. Wayne denies the charges.

The Christian Coalition International Canada supports Ms Wayne's democratic right to express her political viewpoints without harassment or intimidation.
